‘Windows Bridge For iOS’ To Help iOS Developers With App Portability

What is WinObjC?

Microsoft has released software to reduce the gap between Windows applications and apps for Apple's iOS mobile platform which is nicknamed as WinObjC.
This is an open source project that offers an Objective-C development environment for programmers in Visual Studio and Windows.

Bridge

The iOS bridge is being released as an open source project under the MIT license and this offers support for Apple iOS application programming interface compatibility.

Easier Apps

The goal of the project is to make it easy for iOS developers to build and run apps on Windows. Still some features are not yet ready or still in an early state.
They said that, it is easy to get from iOS to Windows than going from iOS to Android. "Alone this won’t make their effort to become a stronger mobile competitor to Android and iOS successful, but it will be a huge founding element to a more complex and complete competitive strategy."

Requirements

WinObjC requires the recently released Windows 10 operating system as well as Visual Studio 2015 with Windows developer tools. Visual Studio 2015 Community is available for free, according to Microsoft. WinObjC supports both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 apps built for x86 and x64 processor architectures. Microsoft will soon add compiler optimizations and support for ARM, which adds mobile support.

More Bridges

Microsoft also announced that the Windows Bridge for Android, code-name Project Astoria, is available as a technical preview by invitation only. Windows Bridge for Android to be released as a public beta in the fall.
